  • Flashing - Flashing describes the rapid change when a liquid will turn into gas form.

  • Gasket - A gasket creates a seal between two devices.

  • Head - The head is used to discuss the amount of force or the energy exerted by the water. This measurement is done by feet.

  • Impeller - A part in the pump that is responsible for driving the fluid.

  • Low Flow - This refers to a buildup of heat in a pump's volume chamber.

  • Negative Pressure - Negative pressure refers to the pressure that is below atmospheric pressure.

  • Pressure Head - Is the measurement of the energy of water due to pressure.

  • Priming - This is the action term used when the water in the pump starts its cycle.

  • Power End - Is the end of the pump that attaches to the source of power.

  • Stuffing Box - This is the portion of the pump that holds its mechanical seal.
